1. In a large mixing bowl, mix the mince beef, egg and diced white onion thoroughly. 2. Gently roll the mince mixture into balls, then gently flatten into burgers around 3cm thick. 3. Gently brush each side of the burgers with the vegetable oil, grill or barbeque the burgers for around 5 minutes on each side or until they are cooked to preference. 4. Whilst the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns and grill the bacon until it is crispy. 5. Place the cheese on top of each burger and place under a hot grill until melted and top with BBQ sauce. 6. Build the burger as follower - burger base, lettuce, sliced beef tomato, burger with the cheese and BBQ sauce on top, crispy bacon rashers, drizzle with maple syrup and top with sliced gherkin, red onion and the toasted burger top. Serve with potato wedges or fries and coleslaw.
